Herbert Jeffrey „Herbie“ Hancock (* 12. April 1940 in Chicago) ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Pianist und Komponist. Die Improvisation Herbie Hancocks ist geprägt von einer perlenden „funky“ Spielweise und der Verwendung expressiver Kreuzrhythmen. Viele seiner Kompositionen sind Klassiker geworden und dienen anderen Jazz-Musikern als Improvisationsgrundlage.
